Our boy finally lost his front teeth at the age of 7 years and 7.5 months. It seems like many of the kids in his kindergarten class had already lost their front teeth by the end of the school year. Here we are nearly 2 years later and Jack got to experience it. These were the first teeth that he lost on his own (with some help from Dad). The dentist had to pull the bottom 2 because the permanent teeth had grown in behind the baby teeth. Well, technically the teeth didn’t come out on their own this time either. Wayne was on a mission to pull the loose teeth. He tied a piece of dental floss to the loose tooth and the other end to the door knob, slammed the bedroom door shut. The tooth came right out and Jack was so excited.
The second front tooth didn’t want to come out so easily. Jack walked around with quite the snaggle-tooth for a few weeks. Oh, boy was that difficult to look at. Wayne tried a few different methods, but the tooth just wouldn’t budge. I took the boys to the dentist a few days later and she offered to pull it, but Jack declined (I was thankful to not have the extra charges added to my bill). She told Jack to twist it a different way and boy was that tooth just barely hanging on! He was too scared to pull it himself, so the next morning, Wayne pulled the old, “I want to see how loose it is” trick and the tooth came right out. Jack didn’t even notice at first. I’m so happy to not have to look at that snaggle-tooth any more.
