Company and Preschool

Grandma Ava and Grandpa Butch came to visit us for the weekend and Auntie Mindy, Uncle Jeremy, and cousins Hannah & Cole came up for the day on Sunday. We bounced around the bounce house a little and enjoyed some yummy cupcakes. Jack & Hannah had fun licking all of the sprinkles off of the frosting and then re-applying the sprinkles and licking those off.

Jack had his first day of pre-school today. He did well but had a bit of a hard time being away from Mommy & Daddy. Mommy had an especially hard time being away from Jack. It was a long 4 hours, but Ben kept Mommy plenty busy while Daddy and Grandpa Butch enjoyed a round of golf.

To make things go smoothly in the morning, I ask Jack if he wants me to comb his hair like a pirate and give him 'pirate hair'. That means I spike it up on the top and try to tame the rest of the cowlicks all over his head. So this morning he told me that he didn't want pirate hair, he wanted school bus hair. I wasn't sure what that meant, so I went with the messy look since it ends up that way anyway. Well, when we went to brush his teeth he saw that his hair was not styled in the school bus fashion and was quite upset. So I had to try to tame it and leave the front spiked up a little. Then he informed me that it still didn't look like school bus hair. So I combed it nice and neat, off to the side and that was sufficient. So in the first picture he has pirate hair and the second picture he has school bus hair (you'll notice that by the time we got to school it had already been messed up and is standing straight up in the air). What a crack up!

Here is Jack arriving at school with his little buddy Chloe. Are they not the cutest things that you ever have seen? I can't believe my baby is old enough to go to pre-school, this is all happening too fast!

Fun with friends

Last week Ashleigh came into town to visit with her son, Griffin. We had a nice visit, took the boys for a short walk and let them play in the backyard. Griffin brought Jack a sit-n-spin for his birthday. Between the 3 kiddos and us talking, it took Ash & I about an hour to figure out how to put it together. We are both college graduates, but we didn't major in toy assembly ;) Now that it is fully assembled and functioning, Jack loves to play the music (yes, this is a fancy sit-n-spin) and dance around the house.

Here are Jack & Griffin playing together in the bounce house. They got along great, just like their mommies.

Ash & Ben.
We also had an emergency get together at our house over the weekend. Most weekends when Wayne is on shift, the lovely ladies from the fire department get together with the kiddos. We had originally planned to go over to Keith & Lisa's, but I got the boys in the car and turned the key over and then realized the car battery was dead (I let Jack play in the car while I unloaded groceries. He turned on the interior dome light and I didn't notice until I tried to leave the following afternoon). So the party moved to our house. Here is Jack having dinner with his fire department family: Aidan, Chloe and Aileen.
This afternoon Ben rolled over for the first time in a long time. Here is a picture of him just before he rolled and below is a picture of him just after. I had the camera in my hand the whole time that it happened, but was so caught up in the moment that I didn't think to snap pictures. Duh!

Hot August Nights

Last night we took the boys out to the one of the cruises going on this week for Hot August Nights. This was the first Hot August Nights experience for both of the boys and as far as we could tell, they loved it. We took them to a drive-in restaurant for dinner and watched some of the old time cars drive by while we ate. It was cute, we would point out the fancy cars as they came closer to us and Jack made sure to point out every single red car that drove by as we ate.

Today, Ben had some male bonding time with Daddy while Mommy took Jack for some one on one time. We went to the Great Basin Adventure Park with a few kids from playgroup. Here are Jack and his buddy Ryan riding the dinosaur. He also got to pet some animals - we saw horses (but Jack didn't want to take a ride), a giant pig, chickens, sheep, goats, and lambs. We also did some panning for gold and played at the playground before heading home. It got pretty hot in a hurry today.

Healthy Boys

We had a busy day filled with doctor and dentist appointments on Tuesday. Jack went to the dentist for the first time and did very well. He had x-rays taken and his teeth cleaned. The dental staff even gave him a VIP badge since it was his first visit. Jack is a proud member of the no cavities club. The dentist says he doesn't have a lot of space in his mouth, so braces are most likely in his future. Big shocker.

Then after lunch, we went to visit Dr. Colombo (who Jack refers to as Dr. Bumbo). Both the boys are doing great. Jack is 30 lbs on the button and has moved up a little bit from 25% to 30-35% on the percentile chart for weight. Ben is almost half of his brother's weight at 14 lbs 14 oz. I don't think it will be too long before he catches up to him.

Jack's Birthday Week

We can hardly believe it - Jack turned 3 yrs old on Wednesday. We had two birthday parties for him. The pictures are not in any particular order as I still cannot figure out this blogging thing.

Here we are with Mommy's friend Kelly and her son Owen.

Ben is now 4 months old.
Jack had all kinds of help opening his cards and presents.
Aidan, Chloe, Aileen and Owen having cupcakes.
