So the time has come to pack up the crib that we’ve had for the past 5 1/2 years. Ben finally figured out how to climb out of the crib. Although he loved his crib (and we loved having him in an enclosed area for nap & bedtime), it is no longer safe for him to be in the crib. So Wayne and his buddy, Kyle took the top bunk off of Jack’s bed and moved it into Ben’s room. It’s been 2 days now, and Ben is still missing his crib. He doesn’t want a big boy bed, because he insists he’s not a big boy. He likes being mommy’s baby. So as long as we refer to the place he sleeps as his crib, everyone is happy. The first night he only got out of bed once. It went much better than I thought it would go. Hope I didn’t jinx myself.
I’m sure it will take some time for him to figure out how to sleep like a normal person. This is him on the first night…..sleeping with his head at the foot of the bed. Most of the time he sleeps sideways. I think he is missing his crib so much because he liked to prop his legs up on the crib railings as he sang and talked himself to sleep.
I still remember the excitement and anticipation when we were shopping for nursery furniture with our parents. And Wayne and I putting that crib together with Jack living in my pregnant belly. It's hard to believe that our house doesn’t have any babies in it anymore. Why do they have to grow so fast? Someone better smack me silly before I start getting baby fever!
