Catch-up

Wow, I can’t believe it has been more than 2 months since I’ve put anything on this blog.  So here’s what we’ve been up to….

Ben loves to play with his cars on the inside of the dishwasher.  Jack also loved to do this.  Silly boys.

Ben finally got his chance to take some classes.  He chose soccer, while Jack chose basketball.  I somehow managed to not get any pictures of Jack playing hoops.

Our baby boy is officially not a baby anymore (although, he still refers to himself as ‘Mommy’s baby’).  We celebrated Ben’s 4th birthday last month.  We had an outdoor party planned and had a frantic, last-minute change of plans because the weather didn’t co-operate.  Jeremy & Mindy were so kind and generous to open their home for the party.  We decided to have the party in the Sac area because both of my brothers’ wives were very pregnant and unable to travel.  We had lots of fun with family and great friends.

We had a visit from Mindy, Hannah & Cole while Hannah was on spring break.  Too bad it was the week before Jack had spring break.  We had fun anyway….Cole is pretty into fire trucks, so we took him to the fire station.  The cool fire station.  The one with a real fire pole.  Cole just loved it when Wayne slid down the fire pole.  He laughed, and laughed, and laughed…

Jack had a fun homework project.  The entire school did an egg-drop.  The mission was to create a container that would house the egg and keep the egg from breaking when dropped from the roof of the school.  He (and by he, I mean Wayne) had some grand ideas involving some pipe and some type of sponge-type insulation.  Well, it worked.  And they both had fun building it.   I think Wayne may have had more fun.  Jack decorated it like the American flag when it was complete.

Easter

We did a community Easter egg hunt on Saturday before Easter.  We met up with some friends and we all had a blast.  Perfect weather.

Then on Easter morning, I packed up the boys and headed to my mom & Chuck’s house – Wayne headed to work.  Boo!

FIRST LOST TOOTH

Er, I mean TEETH!  Jack has to be one of the last (if not THE last) kid in his class to have lost a tooth.  Age: 6 yrs, 8.5 months with a little help from the dentist.  His permanent tooth had already broken through and the dentist said the baby tooth should fall out soon.  She was able to wiggle the tooth with her little tooth scraper, but if we tried with our fingers, it wouldn’t budge.  So as the permanent tooth kept coming in, and the baby tooth not even loose, we made a trip to the dentist to get a little help.  She took one look and suggested extracting both the lower middle teeth because the same thing was happening on the other side.  If we didn’t do it now, we would be back in another month, so we went for it.  Go big, or go home!  Jack was so brave, even excited to enter this exciting new phase of his life.

Dr. Stoker was amazing – talked us through everything before doing it, so gentle and caring, and not even the slightest bit annoyed that I showed up late because I went to the wrong office first.  I thought the office near our house was open on Tues & Thurs.  Apparently it’s only Tuesdays.  Too bad I didn’t realize it until I showed up and was the only person there.  Duh!  Don’t think I’ll make that mistake again.  How embarrassing.

Jack was a real trooper.  No tears and all smiles.  It was so funny watching him afterwards while the Novocain was still in effect.  He couldn’t talk normally and kept asking why his lip felt so puffy.  Once he could feel his face and talk normally, he went right to school.
